Like strategy, a purpose that is not implemented is useless. Your corporate values can be the bridge from purpose to behaviour if you use them thoughtfully.
First Mile, a UK-based B-Corporation, defines its purpose as “to revolutionise business sustainability, starting with waste and recycling.” CEO Bruce Bratley uses three core values to help everyone in the business embody that purpose.
Listen to how he does it on the latest episode of The Purposeful Strategist.
Bruce Bratley is CEO and founder of First Mile, the UK’s leading recycling company. He founded First Mile in 2004 with the vision to help businesses recycle as much of their waste as possible with reliable, low-carbon waste management services.
Prior to First Mile, Bruce worked as Commercial Director at Valpak, one of the top providers of environmental consulting services in the UK and holds a Ph.D in the environment.Since 2004, First Mile has been on a mission to revolutionise business sustainability through waste and recycling. They now help over 30,000 businesses with zero-to-landfill waste collection, with over 25 recycling services to choose from.
Their team is made up of over 150 skilled drivers and 100 office-based environmentalists in London and Birmingham, all dedicated to making the UK greener. They recently became one of the first businesses in the waste management industry to become B Corp Certified.
