In this episode, I’ll be joined by Simon Mitchell, CEO of KERB Food. He describes how Covid forced them to re-examine who they were and what they were doing in order to save their business, and how this put them on a path to realise their purpose in a new and more fundamental way – leading to faster growth, and some stunning commercial wins.
KERB started with one lunch market and a vision to make it normal to enjoy good food on the streets of London.
Today their business has grown to focus on 4 areas: membership, business incubator, food hall operator and event caterer. They are a food-obsessed and people-first company who believes that everyone with a bit of spark should have the opportunity to ignite it.
Their mission is to create opportunity and joy through great food, from the kerb up.
Simon’s passion for events and hospitality was ignited by his early DJ career. From there he was immersed into every element of the industry, including starting, and selling, his highly successful Impulse Events company and finding his way to becoming the director of Concerto Group.
Simon, now CEO of KERB is reshaping how the hospitality industry interacts with, nurtures, and champions independent street food businesses, not to mention his pivotal role in permanently altering the industry’s approach to events catering.
